How to do a table set-up

One of the goals in today’s gastronomy is to promote guests’ well-being, and thus gain new loyal customers. Eating and drinking has again become a sensual experience.

Culture in interior design goes increasingly hand in hand with culture in eating and drinking. The ambiance of a room has a major influence on a guest’s well-being. Therefore, more attention is paid to good design, originality and quality of furniture and fixtures.

Creating Your Place Settings – a few tips

  • Make sure that you have enough space for your guests to sit comfortably.
  • Forks to the left, knives to the right and dessert flatware above the plate.
  • Salad and appetizer forks and knives should go on the outside.
  • The cutlery for the main meal is placed closest to the plate.
  • Glassware goes in the top right of your setting and how complicated you make this is up to you. Traditionally, you’ll start with the water glass, wine glass and finish with a dessert glass.
  • It pays to know guests preferences in advance so as to set a table according to occasion.
  • Make sure there is salt and pepper shakers and butter trays for your guests to reach or pass easily.
  • Don’t forget the centerpiece. Try a floral arrangement, tapered candles or something to suit your unique taste.
