Study tour to Switzerland
Swiss tour by JSHM students
How can I ever forget such a beautiful tour to Switzerland ! It was an educational tour conducted by Jindal School OF Hotel Management to University Centre “César Ritz” in Brig and also Institut Hôtelier “César Ritz”, located in Le Bouveret.
A special thanks to our Director,Ms.Prachi Agarwal who came along with all of us and acted as our mentor & guide throughout the tour . For most of us, it was our the first journey out of India but for all of us it was the first ever experience to Switzerland. On reaching Switzerland we experienced true hospitality. We were hosted by Mr. Gutzwiller(Director of César Ritz College) a very special thanks to him and also a warm gratitude to Ms Tarsilla Fercher(International Partnerships Director), who not only hosted us during our visit to César Ritz but also guided our tour of Switzerland.
Now, for the fun part ! The ice breaker party at César Ritzwas altogether a different experience for us. It was through this party that we were able to coordinate with the students of César Ritz where they also invited to the party kept by the students themselves at their domes to “T&X”.
A visit to cheese factory at Gruyere and the Chocolate Factory – Cailler at Broc was amazing. We actually munched down so many chocolates that day and it was the same day where we actually changed 12 trains in a day.
No one of us can forget the visit to Zermatt a mountain and skiing of Swiss Alps. My most cherished memories are of the visit to Montreux night club BLACK PEARL :One of the most hot and happening night club of the town, we had the most entertaining night ever. The day after the bash we left for Zurich, this was our last day & we fully dedicated the day for shopping. But we all wished that we could have stayed a bit longer but all good things do come to an end.
Oh! I almost forgot, we had a few wonderful classroom sessions too. After the tour most of us have decided to pursue our degree at University Centre “César Ritz”,Brig.
On behalf of all my fellow students I, Anahita N Dordi would like to thank all the people who gave us such opportunity and making this tour successful for us. None of us can forget this wonderful experience.
Table set-up competition at JSHM
The first year students of JSHM undertook a creative exercise in Table Decoration. This entailed application of innovative, practical and attractive elements to the exercise.
Armed with a plethora of tips students explored their creative talents in table decoration. This involved two parts:
PART 1: A brief report consisting of details about the Menu, Cover layup, materials used, an explanation of the design/decoration theme, etc.
PART 2: Setting up a table for four with a time limit of 45 minutes.
Each group of students was assessed on their group dynamics, effective use of resources, theme, relevance, style, visual appeal and organisational abilities.
When creativity gets wings the end result is invariably surprising. Kudos to their creativity!
The team that scored highest comprised of Mr.Naimish Shroff and Mr. Ashish Singh. They had chosen a children’s theme and following is a visual of the same:
